What does the Roberts PTO fund?
Your PTO contributions are put to the best use possible, in consultation with the principal and the PTO budget committee. Below is a detailed description of where your dollars go.
Technology: Funds to purchase iPads, laptops, Smart Boards and other technology that is used by your children and their teachers in the classrooms.
Staff professional development: Funds to send teachers and staff to ongoing professional development workshops, including IB training and math program training.
Curriculum enrichment: Funds the IB program fees, an artist in residence, three musical productions each year and in-school field trips.
Grounds and building maintenance and improvements: Funds to maintain the grounds on a regular basis.
Classroom supplies: The PTO provides funds to each teacher to purchase classroom supplies to use in their instruction throughout the year.
Science lab supplies: The PTO provides supplies for science lab lessons as well as science critter care.
International garden and outdoor classroom: The PTO provides supplies for each class to plant vegetables in the International Garden twice a year and to maintain the garden and outdoor classroom on a regular basis.
Teacher/staff appreciation events: The PTO hosts bi-monthly staff appreciation lunches and provides teacher appreciation week gifts to show our wonderful teachers and staff how much we appreciate them.
Community events: The PTO hosts the ever popular International Festival and a Community Night each year which are free of charge and open to the entire Roberts community.
Workroom: Funds to stock certain supplies in the teacher workroom that are used for classroom work.
Storage: Funds to pay for climate controlled storage for certain reusable PTO items, i.e., decorations for the Auction and sets for the musical productions.
Hospitality: Funds for refreshments at PTO events throughout the year.
Special Allocations: If the PTO raises more than its budget, it will make special allocations at the end of the school year for special projects. These special allocations are identified by the principal and the PTO budget committee and approved by a majority of the PTO board. Some examples of past special allocations are: books for the library, re-sodding of the ball field, repair and expansion of the covered pick-up area on School Street, and replacement of the basketball goals.
